Chesterfield, MO Salary:
$50k – 60k per year + Medical. Dental.

228183 The Payroll Specialist is responsible for the accurate and timely processing of payroll for multi-state employees, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations. This position requires strong attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, and a customer-service mindset to support employee payroll inquiries. The ideal candidate will have experience in high-volume payroll environments and a solid understanding of payroll systems and procedures. Key Responsibilities Process biweekly and/or semi-monthly payroll for salaried and hourly employees across multiple states Review and validate employee time entries, deductions, bonuses, and commissions for accuracy Ensure compliance with company policies and applicable wage and hour laws Maintain accurate payroll records and employee data in the HRIS and payroll systems Prepare payroll-related reports for Finance and HR departments Respond to employee inquiries regarding pay, deductions, taxes, and timekeeping Assist with year-end payroll activities, including W-2 preparation and distribution Coordinate with HR and Benefits teams to ensure accurate benefits deductions and leave tracking Support audits and ensure adherence to internal controls and SOX compliance Research and resolve payroll discrepancies or adjustments in a timely manner Qualifications Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, or related field preferred 2+ years of experience processing payroll in a multi-state or large organization Proficiency with payroll software systems (e.g., ADP, Workday, or UKG/UltiPro preferred) Strong knowledge of federal and state payroll regulations, tax filings, and wage laws Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy Strong Excel skills and experience with Microsoft Office Suite Excellent problem-solving and communication skills Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion Ascendo is a certified minority owned staffing firm, and we welcome and celebrate diversity.
