General Statement of Job:
- This position involves the administration and preparation of employee payroll records related payments and withholdings. The employee is responsible for maintaining files related to payroll and leave and answering inquiries pertaining to payroll programs. This position reports directly to the Finance Officer.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities:
- Perform monthly processes for employee payroll
- Maintain accurate payroll assignments and leave balances, updating data as necessaryand transferring to other required agencies upon request
- Assist employees with inquiries, payroll policies, procedures and related matters
- Request State and Federal funds monthly for payroll
- Process and transmit federal tax deposits monthly
- Verify and process employee W-2s and related information
- Process reports/inquiries for NC Department of Revenue, NC Retirement System, NC State Treasurer, Social Security Administration, Department of Social Services, and Employment Security Commission
- Calculate and process payoffs for retirements and resignations
- Verify employment and related information to financial institutions and other approved agencies as requested
- Assist schools and departments with programs that interface with the payroll system
- Perform year end and new year startup procedures for payroll
- Work closely with Human Resources Department in regards to new hires and resignations
- Other duties as assigned by Finance Officer

Minimum Training and Experience:
- Associates degree preferred in accounting or a related area
- High school diploma required and supplemented by course work in bookkeeping or accounting with an or any equivalent combination of training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skill, and ability to perform the job
- Minimum Qualifications or Standards Required to
Perform Essential Job Functions:
- Lifting and moving large ledger books
