The Payroll Administrator will report to the HR & Payroll Operations Manager and be responsible for processing a biweekly payroll, balancing and reconciling payroll records, troubleshooting and resolving issues, working with tax agencies, and staying informed of payroll rules and regulations. The position is eligible for up to 50% remote work, reporting to the Ringoes, NJ location. The salary range is $75,000 to $85,000, based on experience.
Duties / Responsibilities
Enter, maintain, and process information in the payroll system; information may include employees’ hourly rates, salaries, commissions, bonuses or other compensation, time worked, paid leave and holidays, deductions and withholding, address changes, and other information. Process and manage wage garnishments for employees. Process a biweekly payroll, ensuring proper calculation and recording of earnings, deductions, benefits, and taxes. Oversee and audit the weekly payroll process. Issue replacement checks or direct deposits due to errors or final discharge. Reconcile payroll each period to the general ledger and to UKG tax filing reports. Work with tax agencies and UKG to address notices or resolve filing issues. Process prior quarter and prior year adjustments when necessary. Research tax issues and register for tax accounts with the agency when locations are opened in new municipalities. Work closely with accounting on any discrepancies or for special processing. Prepare and validate reports for the accounting department. Support audits of Workers Compensation, 401k, Unemployment, etc. throughout the year. Maintain all payroll operations according to company policies and procedures. Address payroll related requests and inquiries. Support HRIS upgrades, new features, testing, and other projects as assigned Required Skills /
Abilities:
Ability to interpret and apply payroll rules, regulations, laws, and policies. Ability to work independently and in a fast-paced team environment. Strong technical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software. Proficient with UKG or the ability to quickly learn payroll software.
Education and Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent required. Two years of experience in payroll or a related field required. Working knowledge of federal and state taxes, laws regulating pay and wage determination as well as FLSA and other employment laws required. FPC or CPP designation preferred. Experience with Ultimate Software’s UltiPro/UKG HRIS preferred. Fluent in Spanish a plus.
Physical Requirements:
Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Partial work from home options available. Must be willing to work in the Ringoes, NJ office 50% of the time.
