Job Summary:

To ensure the accurate and timely generation of confidential payroll checks for every employee of the organization based on the information supplied on employee time sheets and provided by department secretaries, cafeteria managers and administrators.

Qualifications:

To successfully perform this position, a person must be able to perform each primary duty satisfactorily. The qualification requirements listed below represent minimum levels of educational achievement, training, skills and/or ability necessary. High school diploma plus two years post secondary education or 2 years work experience in a similar position. Strong mathematical ability, accuracy and attention to detail. Ability to operate a computer with demonstrated knowledge of application programs. Ability to effectively operate calculator, printer, copier, and other basic office machines. Ability to interact well with other staff, strong communication skills. Excellent clerical and bookkeeping skills. Proficiency in the use of technology for individual and system management, communication, and research. Must successfully complete and maintain compliance with all federal and state background and criminal record check requirements. Candidate must adhere to all local, state, federal, and school code requirements for employment.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Please review the attached Job Description for more details on this specific opportunity) Processes payroll for all paid District employees. Prints, sorts, and inserts checks in envelopes for distribution. Maintains employee records information
  • tax deductions, address changes, salary changes, and all other payroll deductions.

Assists Payroll Supervisor in maintaining employee attendance tracking. Processes personal day requests for all employees. Completes all mortgage verifications, tax sheltered annuity applications, unemployment forms, and wage attachments (Domestic Relations, Berkheimer, etc). Handles all employee payroll deduction accounts and their billing processes (United Way, Domestic Relations, Credit Union, tax sheltered annuities, etc.). Responds to all incoming telephone inquiries concerning payroll. Assists with Aesop and STS related inquires. Assists with all supplemental contracts for the district including payment and tracking reports. Assists with direct deposit file, taxes, PSERS, and third party administrator. Assists with keeping website content up to date. Trains support staff on the use of the time and attendance system; issues prox cards. Acts as a backup to the Payroll Supervisor. Creates and maintains position procedure outline to describe day to day duties of the position/department as needed.
