Our company is engaged in providing accounting, cost control, HR, and IT support to stevedoring and terminal operation service ports in Houston and New Orleans. We are looking for a detail oriented, organized, and analytical person to work with our Human Resources Manager. The successful candidate will be primarily responsible for assisting the Human Resources Manager in all payroll and HR related tasks to ensure timely and accurate union and non-union payroll processing and reporting, including maintaining personnel files, recruitment and employee retention.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Process non-union semi-monthly payrolls including periodic payroll (annual bonus) and any off-period payment Process non-union payroll on a weekly basis Collect and ensure accuracy of attendance system data Review all payroll input to ensure accurate and timely payment of salaries and benefits, tax liabilities, child support and garnishments, compliant with federal and state regulations Input, verify and reconcile benefits entries / withholdings (health insurance, dental, vision, life insurance, 401k and other benefits) Maintain records of all payroll-related transactions Assist with maintaining personnel files Assists department head with staffing needs and placing employment advertisements Develop and implement programs designed to improve staff retention Assist employees with HR and payroll related questions or concerns

Qualifications:

Ability to deal sensitively with confidential material is Minimum 2-3 years’ experience processing payroll High degree of accuracy and attention to detail Can be relied upon to meet deadline Understanding of Federal and state payroll taxes Proficient with Microsoft Office applications Ability to work independently with minimum supervision Marine terminal / logistic, union payroll processing & ADP knowledge is a plus Ability to lift and carry up to 50 (fifty) pounds occasionally
