Job Description
Aston Carter is currently partnering with a company in Nashville, TN. They are needing a Payroll Administrator to support their team while an employee is on leave. Please see below for more details. Description
- Responsible for bi-weekly payroll preparation and ensuring payroll accuracy before submitting for approval.
- Contact department supervisors for time discrepancies (missed punches, timecard edits, PTO approvals, etc.).
- Establish auditing practices to ensure accuracy for each payroll cycle, including validation of proper local and state tax allocations, benefit deductions and overall organizational compliance.
- Process off-cycle payrolls for bonuses and when necessary.
- Ensures proper setup of local and state tax jurisdictions. Monitor and respond to inquiries from state tax jurisdictions. Maintain database of logins and passwords.
- Process and monitor garnishments orders and other issues that impact payroll specifications.
- Respond to employee inquiries regarding payroll issues or concerns.
- Reconcile the general ledger by uploading journal entries regarding payroll transactions.
- Support HR/Finance audits by providing records, reports, and other documentation as needed.
- Implement and maintain payroll best practices to improve efficiency and consult with the HR team to improve payroll processes.
- Produces scheduled and ad-hoc reports pertaining to payroll and HR requirements.
- Problem-solves all tax, payroll, and time issues.
- Resolve messages from Concur expense report audits & process reimbursements.
- Maintains financial security by following internal accounting controls.
- Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
Additional Skills & Qualifications Requirements:
- A minimum of 5 years’ experience working in payroll or similar role.
- Associate or bachelor’s degree in accounting or a related field.
- Working knowledge of basic accounting principles and payroll practices.
- Working experience with ADP Workforce, SAP Concur or similar platforms.
- Proficient in Excel.
- High degree of accuracy, attention to detail
- Possesses strong organizational skills, ability to complete multiple tasks, and a high volume of work on deadlines.
- Has shown the ability to respond quickly and accurately to requests for data and provide excellent customer service.
- Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing.
- Must have high interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential information and situations.
- Ability to interact with employees in a professional manner.
- Enjoys working in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong knowledge of local, state and wage laws.
