Payroll Clerk Job Description We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Payroll Clerk to join our team. The Payroll Clerk will be responsible for processing weekly payroll and maintaining employee time records, as well as assisting with various HR-related functions. This role requires proficiency in the Paychex HRIS system for managing employee records and payroll processing. Responsibilities Maintain and process information in the Paychex HRIS system, including employee hourly rates, salaries, commissions, bonuses, time worked, paid leave, holidays, deductions, withholdings, and address changes. Ensure accurate processing of payroll deductions for taxes, benefits, charitable contributions, and other deductions. Reconcile payroll to the general ledger and monthly bank statements. Issue or reissue physical or replacement checks or direct deposits due to payroll errors or final discharge. Record and process federal and state payroll tax deposits. File employee paperwork, including new hire documentation, benefits forms, and compliance-related materials. Assist with company events, such as employee appreciation lunches, team-building activities, and holiday parties. Manage basic onboarding tasks, including scheduling orientation sessions, preparing welcome packets, and assisting with the completion of required paperwork. Administer the orientation process by introducing new employees to company policies, procedures, and benefits. Essential Skills Proficiency in the Paychex HRIS system Experience with payroll processing and deductions Knowledge of tax regulations and payroll taxes Strong attention to detail and accuracy Ability to reconcile payroll to the general ledger and bank statements Excellent organizational and time management skills Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience in filing employee paperwork and managing compliance-related materials Ability to coordinate and assist with company events Experience in onboarding and orientation processes Work Environment This position is based in an office setting. The Payroll Clerk will work standard office hours and may occasionally be required to assist with company events outside of regular business hours. The role involves working with computers and other office equipment.
