Job Description
Description We are looking for a meticulous Payroll Clerk to join our team in Memphis, Tennessee. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring accurate payroll processing, maintaining compliance with policies, and addressing employee inquiries related to compensation. This role is essential in maintaining operational efficiency and delivering excellent employee support.
Responsibilities:
- Process employee payroll accurately and on time, ensuring compliance with organizational policies and procedures.
- Maintain and update payroll records, including new employee information, rate changes, and terminations.
- Review and reconcile daily time sheets to determine hours worked and resolve discrepancies with department managers.
- Enter tips, overtime, and adjustments into payroll systems, ensuring proper authorization and documentation.
- Prepare and distribute paychecks securely, while maintaining confidentiality of payroll records.
- Assist managers with timecard edits and provide training on payroll system usage as needed.
- Generate and distribute various payroll reports, including labor distribution, tax summaries, and accruals.
- Handle employee inquiries regarding paychecks and disputed charges, providing prompt resolutions.
- Ensure compliance with employment verification requests and process paycheck adjustments accurately.
- Monitor cleanliness and organization of workspaces, maintaining a precise and efficient environment. Requirements
- Proficiency in accounting software systems, including ADP Workforce Now, Ceridian, and Kronos.
- Strong knowledge of payroll processing, reconciliation, and auditing procedures.
- Experience with benefit functions, garnishments, and tax calculations.
- Exceptional attention to detail and ability to handle confidential information responsibly.
- Familiarity with timecard systems and ability to assist managers in edits.
- Effective communication skills to address employee inquiries and resolve discrepancies.
- Ability to generate and interpret payroll reports accurately.
- Previous experience in accounts payable or related accounting functions preferred.
