The Payroll Specialist plays a crucial role in Southall’s mission, ensuring the accurate and timely processing of Team Member compensation and providing broader support to the Finance Department. Responsibilities Calculate Team Member wages, taxes and deductions to ensure accuracy and compliance Utilize payroll software to process bi-weekly payroll, manage data and generate reports Ensure leadership compliance with timesheet corrections and approvals Conduct periodic audits Maintain accurate payroll records, including Team Member data, timesheets and payment information Ensure accurate tax filings, withholding and agency reporting Receive and ensure proper distribution of payroll checks Provide timely and accurate response to Team Member payroll inquiries, clarifications and discrepancies Maintain familiarity with current federal, state and local tax laws and regulations Provide general support for the needs and priorities of the Finance Department Other duties as assigned by Finance Leadership Skills and Experience A minimum of 3 years of successful payroll experience required Experience in ADP Workforce Now, Evention and Expensify strongly preferred Demonstrated ability to handle confidential information with care and discretion Ability to navigate through complex problems and make decisions guided by established policies and procedures Exceptional communication skills; ability to effectively provide directions in a clear, concise and professional manner in both verbal and written form Ability to effectively listen to, empathize with and resolve Team Member concerns in a friendly and positive manner Must be able to understand, speak, read, and write in the English language Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) Education & Requirements Bachelor’s degree (B.A) in Accounting highly preferred The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by a team member to successfully perform the essential functions of this job; reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
