This entry level position receives general direction from appropriate supervisor. As a Payroll Specialist at Community Health Systems (CHS) – Shared Business Operations (SBO), you’ll play a vital role in supporting our purpose to help people get well and live healthier by providing safe, quality healthcare, building enduring relationships with our patients, and providing value for the people and communities we serve. Essential Functions Assists in daily payroll processing preparation and related record keeping functions Utilize various computer programs and applications to accurately enter and maintaining time keeping edits, adjustments, voluntary deductions, involuntary deductions and review/analysis for applicable payroll reports. Serves as key contact for facility personnel Maintains confidentiality as it pertains to all payroll information Adheres to the Code of Conduct and Mission and Value statement of the company Participates in provided training programs as applicable Performs responsibilities that contribute to wards meeting or exceeding team goals Promptly escalate appropriate issues to team lead and/or supervisor Provides prompt, courteous and accurate customer support in resolution of payroll transactions Performs a variety of payroll related clerical duties; data entry; assists and responds to questions and request for information. Provide suggestions and/or recommendations for changes to applicable processes or tools as recognized from functioning in the role on a daily basis Maintains payroll related reports and documents Performs other duties as assigned. Complies with all policies and standards. Qualifications H.S. Diploma or GED required Associate Degree preferred 1-2 years Some payroll processing experience with a working knowledge of federal, state, and local tax regulations that affect payroll required Some experience with Kronos Dimensions and Oracle preferred Experience in large payroll processing for multi-state and/or multiple facilities preferred Payroll experience in a healthcare field preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Kronos, Microsoft Excel, Medhost Accounts Payable Strong communication, organizational and customer service skills Proven ability to work successfully in a fast-paced environment while maintaining positive relationships with co-workers and supervisors Understands practical necessity of rules and ethical guidelines Licenses and Certifications Certified Payroll Professional (CPP)-APA preferred We know it’s not just about finding a job.
