GENERAL FUNCTION
What is a De Novo?? A De Novo is a newlocation that is being opened and staffed from the ground up. As a De Novo Personal Banker, you are responsible for creating agreat customer experience and growing a new branch from the groundup. Starting a branch with zero customers is a challenging andrewarding task! The Personal Banker focuses most of their time ondeveloping new relationships over the telephone or in person,having great consultative conversations, and asking for referrals.
They will also spend some of their time alongside the FinancialCenter Manager engaging in outside business development. Selectedcandidates are intended to become a Retail Personal Banker II aftercompleting a 4-8 week on-boarding and education program thatincludes rotations in Operations and Sales & Service. There will bea certification at the conclusion of the program to provideselected candidates the opportunity to demonstrate skills necessaryto successfully perform a role within the Retail Personal Bankerjob family. The Retail Personal Banker II role is a sales positionwith a primary focus on sales development and relationship buildingthrough the promotion of deposits, loans, fee-based services andthe retention of customers. Responsible for selling a full range ofbanking products and services to meet existing and prospectivecustomer’s needs, while providing specialized care and service toexisting and prospective bank customers. Utilize and promote theconsultative sales and service process, using the prescribed toolsand interacting with the staff for referral activity.
Responsibleand accountable for risk by openly exchanging ideas and opinions,elevating concerns, and personally following policies andprocedures as defined. Accountable for always doing the right thingfor customers and colleagues, and ensures that actions andbehaviors drive a positive customer experience. While operatingwithin the Bank’s risk appetite, achieves results by consistentlyidentifying, assessing, managing, monitoring, and reporting risksof all types.
ESSENTIAL DUTIESAND RESPONSIBILITIES
Use the consultative sales process and Financial NeedsAssessment to build a thorough customer profile and identifycurrent and future financial needs. Maintain an in-depth knowledge of Retail consumer and smallbusiness products/services and recommend appropriate solutionsusing our value proposition. Utilize CAMP and other approved Marketing tools to proactivelyreach out to customers and set appointments for periodic financialreviews. Primarily focused on cross-selling to existing customer baseand engaging in outside sales activities (i.e. Membership Advantageonsite presentations, business sales calls, community financialliteracy events, etc.) as directed. Establish close working relationships with assigned BusinessPartners (Mortgage, Small Business, Commercial and Investment),referring customers when appropriate to provide timely, andholistic financial solutions. Consistently meet/exceed customer experience andindividual/team production goals and enhance year-over-year revenuegrowth as measured by the Financial Center P&L. Provide guidance to CSRs with respect to the sales and referralprocess. Promote customer satisfaction with a friendly, helpful demeanorand professionalism. Act with confidence by answering customer questions and owningcustomer issues. Maintain a position of trust and responsibility by keeping allbusiness confidential. Follow the Bancorp Code of Business Conduct and Ethics andother related policies, maintaining ethical behavior at alltimes. Adhere to established policies and procedures whileopening/servicing the full range of Retail products. Participate in the consumer loan and bankcard process, owningsourced loans from application through closing. Participate in the opening/closing process of the FinancialCenter or Bank Mart as directed by the Financial CenterManager. Keep up to date on Retail procedures in place to mitigatefraudulent activity and unnecessary risk or exposure.

MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIESREQUIRED
College degree or work experience providing transferrableskills or combination of education and experience. Experience in the financial industry preferred. Demonstrated ability to develop comfort level with salesactivities designed to acquire new consumer household and smallbusiness customers and/or cross-sell to established customers. Must be able to demonstrate understanding of advanced mathfunctions that will allow for analysis of credit and financialinformation. Ability to professionally represent Fifth Third Bank in termsof appearance and verbal/written communication. Demonstrated ability to develop a working knowledge of Retailpolicies and procedures in order to utilize good judgment in makingsound decisions. This position requires S.A.F.E. Act registration at the time ofemployment through the Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System (NMLS).The NMLS web site (mortgage.nationwidelicensingsystem.org) providesthe MU4R questions and registration Required for employment in thisposition.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Normal office environment. Extending viewing of computer screens. This program will require the ability to travel within theaffiliate for training as well as scheduling flexibility.
