Financial Empowerment Center counseling services are based on four guiding principles: establishing safe banking relationships, increasing savings, reducing debt, and building credit. The Financial Empowerment Center is operated in partnership between Orange County Local Government and Habitat for Humanity Greater Orlando & Osceola County Habitat Orlando Financial Empowerment Center partners with many government and nonprofit social services in the community to help low to moderate income residents address their financial challenges and needs and plan for their futures. We are seeking Financial Counselors who are empathetic, great motivators, and passionate about helping individuals achieve their financial goals. Essential Functions Provide individualized financial counseling sessions (including both initial and follow-up sessions) and achieve client outcomes. Assess client needs and develop individual financial action plans with each client. Engage in ongoing follow-up with clients. Make appropriate referrals and integrate other wraparound supports (i.e. benefits, tax preparation) into counseling to achieve greater results. Follow required protocol and program requirement. Collect, track and report require data using a client management database. Participate in initial training and ongoing professional development training. Successfully complete and pass counselor training. Demonstrate time management skills by effectively prioritizing tasks and meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Ability to read and process financial documentation. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and able to use a client management database. Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information. Ability to work on multiple projects at once in a fast-paced environment. Strong communications and excellent writing skills with an ability to craft high quality reports, correspondence, and other materials. Ability to work directly with people from diverse racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds. Ability to provide outstanding customer experience and a passion for assisting people. Knowledge of community resources or social services. A high level of patience and empathy. Work Environment The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job in an office environment. This role routinely involves standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines. This role also works in various indoor and outdoor conditions at community events. Physical Demands The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands, reach with hands/arms, listen, and communicate. The employee must be capable of lifting and/or moving up to 25 pounds on a necessary basis and will occasionally be required to stand and walk for extended periods of time consistent with a typical office environment. Position Type/Expected Hours of Work This is a full-time, salaried position and the office hours of operation are Monday through Friday, 8a.m. to 5 p.m. Some early mornings, evenings and weekends may be required. Required Education and Experience Must be fluent in speaking, reading, and writing in English and Spanish Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college and/or two years of experience of relevant working in financial counseling/coaching, financial education, social service delivery, community engagement/outreach.

Experience in financial counseling:

knowledge about credit, debt, and money management; savings and investment options; and safe financial products and services. Must successfully complete and the counselor training as defined by the national Financial Empowerment Center Training Standards within the first 60 days; training provided by Financial Empowerment Center Must obtain and maintain an annual Anti-Money Laundering certificate within the first 30 days: training provided by Habitat. Must obtain and maintain annually Safeguarding certificate within the first 30 days: training provided by Habitat. Must exhibit strong fiscal responsibility. Preferred Education and Experience Previous experience in case management, social service, and non-profit experience preferred.

Experience in banking:
