Patient Counselor for Surgery Center

In addition to our multi-specialty ophthalmology practice, our service lines include plastic surgery, aesthetic skin care and hearing services. What do we look for?
The Patient Counselor is responsible for
Reviewing and explaining benefits and forms
Reviewing chart notes and calculate balances for patient
Calling patients to review deductibles and any outstanding balance or copays
Scheduling follow-up appointments
Collecting payments due prior to and/or surgery day
This position requires proven organizational skills, top level problem solving, outstanding customer service and the ability to communicate effectively.
Our ideal candidate is comfortable working with the public and has worked in an office environment where a high level of customer service was required. The position requires a person with outstanding interpersonal skills including a pleasant demeanor, positive attitude, tact, diplomacy, patience, and flexibility.
Qualifications
Medical office experience required; Medical insurance knowledge highly preferred
Insurance verification knowledge is preferred
Must have the ability to multitask and demonstrate an attention to detail
Ability to read and communicate effectively with patients, peers, supervisors and team
