We’re seeking a future team member for the role of Director,Managing Counsel to join our Financial Crimes Legal InvestigationsTeam. This role is located in Pittsburgh, PA or Lake Mary, FL -HYBRID, 3 days in-office In this role, you’ll make an impact in thefollowing ways: Providing timely legal advice and assistance toFinancial Crimes Compliance, Risk and business partners on mattersrelated to the Anti-Money Laundering Act of 2020, the USA PATRIOTAct, Bank Secrecy Act, the European anti-money launderingdirectives (AMLD) and other global equivalents. Reviewing,interpreting, and advising on relevant laws and industry bestpractices pertaining to anti-money laundering including emergingregulatory changes. Reviewing investigative work and otherwisesupporting the Company’s investigative units, including Enforcement& Investigations, AML Transaction Monitoring Team, and FinancialCrimes Legal Investigations Team. Engaging and managing outsidecounsel and consultants on Financial Crimes-related matters.
Escalating legal and regulatory risk to senior management.
Participating in internal governance committees and policy-makingbodies. To be successful in this role, we’re seeking the following:
A licensed attorney in good standing in the state/jurisdiction inwhich the position is based or otherwise in compliance with thein-house counsel registration rules of that state/jurisdiction.7-10 years of total work experience as a qualified attorney ispreferred. The ability to concisely present factual and legalissues to myriad audiences and provide sound and succinctrecommendations to senior leaders is essential. Experience workingin AML/KYC/financial crimes at a financial institution, law firm,or law enforcement is preferred. Strong interpersonal andcommunication skills are important as is a knowledge of issuesimpacting the banking and financial services industry. Ability tomanage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-pacedenvironment. At BNY, our culture speaks for itself.
