The ideal candidate will have experience helping patients understand how best to plan for any balances that may be generated from services depending on their insurance coverage options. Patient Financial Counselor Responsibilities:
Represents NIOS in a manner that ensures a positive service image and tone for the organization Accepts deposits for upcoming procedures, scans the appropriate documents in the patient chart Educates patients on their insurance coverage and benefits as the plan related to planned services provided by NIOS Generates a Good Faith Estimate for self-pay and out of network patients Obtains payment and/or offering NIOS in-house payment plan or application for outside financing Supports patients who have non-participating carrier in negotiating one-time case agreements for services, as needed Researches and reviews practice patient responsibility and self-pay accounts, make outbound calls to resolve any outstanding balances Effectively communicates relevant account balance information to patients, addressing any questions Answers account balance Patient inquiries via phone, effectively communicates relevant account balance information Following up on broken payment plan accounts, and actively working with patients to resolve Adding applicable patient insurance and resubmitting to Insurance Payer as needed. Assigns uncollectible account balances to Collection Agency in accordance with Payment Policy Maintains a level of productivity suitable for the department Clearly documents steps taken on behalf of patients and/or NIOS within practice management system
Skills/Requirements:
