Status Hours:
20 hrs/wk Cary Medical Center has an exciting opportunity for a Financial Counselor to join their Patient Access Department. The successful applicant will collect all self-pay payments. This person will also be responsible for counseling patients as needed and assist with proper reporting and maintenance of accounts in an organized fashion.
Essential Job Duties:
Contact all overdue accounts with a priority on accounts over $300.00. Make payment arrangements according to policy. Consolidate accounts according to policy. Counsel patients as needed and note on each account via the billing system. Patient complaints are to be handled immediately or as soon as possible and according to policy.
Prepare Reports:
Bad debt list (regular), free care list, Medicare bad debts, employee discounts, employee health and small balance adjustments. Send payment reports, itemized bills and suit authorizations to collection agency.
Requirements:
Education or License:
1. Minimum of an Associate’s Degree or equivalent experience preferred
Availability Requirements:
Must be available to work Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm
