Description of Work This position is designated Mandatory and must report or stay over during adverse weather events. Cherry Hospital A Place of Hope, Care, and Recovery (All relevant work experience, education, and certification/licensure must be included on the application to be given consideration). Cherry Hospital, an accredited State Psychiatric Hospital serving the eastern region of North Carolina, is recruiting for a permanent full-time Patient Relations Representative (PRR) position. This position serves as the contact person for all the clients assigned to them. Clients are assigned alphabetically each morning from the admissions received during the previous working day. It is the responsibility of the PRR to interview the client and/or their representative within 72 hours of admission to collect the financial information to determine the client’s ability to pay for care and treatment. This position is also responsible for reviewing insurance eligibility for Medicare, Medicaid, commercial insurance, Veteran’s benefits, etc. The PRR is responsible for all reviews to maintain eligibility for government benefits and third-party insurance and enters the financial data for each assigned client. This position communicates with the Central Billing Office about any changes or updates in the financial situations from admission until close-out of the account to secure reimbursement for care and treatment. Also, the PRR is responsible for monitoring the client’s personal funds account and assisting the client and facility staff with appropriate expenditures of the client’s personal funds. Cherry Hospital (CH) is a State-of-the-Art psychiatric hospital located in a beautiful rural area of Goldsboro, NC. Although rural, Cherry Hospital is convenient to the Triangle Area (Raleigh/Durham) and the coastal region of the state. It is about an hour’s drive to the heart of Raleigh or the beautiful coastal town of New Bern. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities / Competencies

  • Strong communication skills in both oral and written form.
  • Requires ability to organize and work independently.
  • Ability to utilize office equipment and other relevant technology (software and systems) to meet organizational needs.
  • Knowledge of state and federal regulations, mental health laws, and general statues, including Medicare and Medicaid regulations.

Management Prefers:

Two years of experience in admissions, registration, or patient relations setting. Working knowledge of Epic. Prefers an associate degree in accounting or business management. Minimum Education and Experience Requirements Some state job postings say you can qualify by an “equivalent combination of education and experience”.
