About the
Job:
Coordinates the financial aspect to patient care by obtaining detailed insurance benefit information for all aspects of hematology or cancer treatment. Work with patients and their families, beginning with an initial evaluation for coverage, including prescription benefits, and continuing throughout the continuum of care with particular attention given to injectable and infusion medications.
What You’ll Do:
Obtain detailed insurance benefit eligibility, insurance precertification/prior authorization, and prescription benefit information for all treatment patients including but not limited to outpatient injectable, infusion and prescription medications, follow-up office visits, and hospital admissions for chemotherapy treatments. Identify potential payer issues prior to patient visit based on input from the Nurse Navigator, the ECC’s, onsite Coding Specialist and/or Reception Team in addition to the completed benefit investigation. Work closely with Oncology Resource Coordinator and Pharmacy on drug grants and program options, as well as other coverage options for under and un-insured patients. Upon receipt of denial and appeal requests, pull applicable information, consult with onsite Coding Specialist and/or ordering provider and inform Oncology Practice Manager of any potential reimbursement issues. Navigate payer websites to obtain vital information on patient benefits and to ensure authorizations are completed in a timely manner Maintain an understanding of the ever-changing, complex commercial and government insurance policies related to cancer care
Who You Are:
High School Diploma or GED required. Bachelor’s Degree preferred. 2 years experience working in healthcare industry or equivalent experience to understand covered benefits and exclusions (i.e., commercial & government policies)
