Job Description

The Analyst (multiple openings) at MPG Operations LLC in New York, NY will perform detailed valuations and construct in-depth company financial models in Excel. Work closely with the Portfolio Manager to research investment ideas, utilizing a fundamental bottoms-up approach to stock selection in a market neutral context. Conduct differentiated, bottoms-up fundamental and data analysis of software and services companies, review business models, and relevant industry metrics, becoming a go-to expert on a universe of companies. Synthesize, communicate, and present long and short investment ideas to the Portfolio Manager. Actively participate in quarterly earnings calls and monitor material news events related to companies under coverage. Attend industry conferences and management meetings. Identify and analyze relevant industry metrics and evaluate new coverage opportunities. This position may involve work at unanticipated Millennium locations in the United States.

Salary:

$176,571 to $200,000 per year.

Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Finance, or a related field, plus 5 years in a professional analyst, or related, occupation in the financial or investment industry. Must include 4 years of experience with each of the following: (1) merger and acquisition (M&A) analysis, with focus on technology clients and public companies, including due diligence and financial analysis, draft and review merger proxies, and evaluate synergies, integration risks, and strategic fit; (2) financial modeling and valuation techniques, including Discounted Cash Flow (DCF), Leveraged Buyout (LBO), Merger Consequences, Comparable Company Analysis (Comps), and Precedent Transactions; (3) Excel to build financial models, perform sensitivity analysis, and scenario planning; (4) due diligence processes, including financial, operational, and market analysis; (5) leverage financial databases including, Bloomberg, FactSet, and Capital IQ, to gather historical financial data, industry benchmarks, and market trends; (6) collaborate with internal stakeholders, including C suite executives, financial, legal, and accounting teams, to execute financial transactions; and (7) prepare and present detailed reports, pitch books, and transaction documents to internal managers and external clients, synthesizing financial data into actionable insights, and providing recommendations based on thorough analysis. Must also include 6 months of experience with: (8) third-party data sources, including SensorTower, Yipit, and MScience, for market and competitive analysis; and (9) expert networks, including GLG (Gerson Lehrman Group), to gather industry insights and validate investment ideas.
