POSITION PURPOSE:
Provides financial counseling to patients to resolve patient due account balances. Serves as the direct link between the organization and our third-party vendors to ensure that proper billing criteria and guidelines are met regarding allowable/billable services and procedures.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Communicates with the patient and/or guarantor to establish payment arrangements. Communicates with MRA personnel to ensure that accounts are handled correctly, makes all necessary adjustments, identifies errors on accounts, and ensures that MRA personnel have everything they need to properly handle the accounts. Serves as a liaison with our outside collection agencies for any questions on assigned accounts. Processes suit authorizations for the collection agency. Works directly with our employees to help resolve past due accounts prior to being referred to a bad debt agency. Communicates with attorneys to ensure that our liability accounts are paid/settled in a timely manner. Reviews accounts to ensure that all proper adjustments are posted for both Medicare and Medicaid accounts. Reviews newborn accounts to obtain accurate billing information from guarantor to process correct claims timely. Demonstrates a thorough understanding of all state and federal regulatory requirements for government and third-party agencies to ensure compliance and appropriate reimbursement.
SPECIALIZED KNOW-HOW & REQUIREMENTS
High School Diploma or equivalent required. Associates Degree preferred. AAHAM certification preferred. Experience in collections and/or accounts receivables preferred. Excellent communications, customer service and organizational skills required. Computer literacy including operation and software application use required.
