This inaugural position coordinates efforts to create a supportive and inclusive community that promotes the financial, mental and well-being of students. As a part of the college-wide student wellness initiative, the financial wellness counselor will design and implement an innovative and comprehensive financial wellness program that equips students with practical tools to address financial well-being. The counselor performs daily operations for processing financial assistance, scholarships and other financial-related programs. Advises students about financial aid and scholarships. Resolves financial aid issues. i.e. verification. Audits financial aid files, reviews financial aid reports for accuracy, and responds to financial aid inquiries. Performs daily operations involved with the delivery of financial assistance for perspective and enrolled students. Reviews and verifies student’s financial aid file/status to determine eligibility. Awards and certifies financial aid and scholarships to eligible students based on institutional policies and procedures. Revises student financial aid and scholarships awards based on need and eligibility. Develops and maintains reports required for the Liaison Committee on Medical Education (LCME) accreditation on an annual basis. Develops programs, events, and initiatives that support financial literacy and debt management. Provides high quality financial aid counseling; loan repayment and public service forgiveness; and debt management services. Serve as an advisor and coach to individual students on personal financial matters and issues. Develops relationships and works closely with the office of financial aid and other key departments Serve as the liaison for the school of medicine between financial aid and business offices, collaborating on student account management, billings, disbursement, reconciliation, reports, and related matters. Develop and implement scholarship policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with institutional guidelines and regulations. Maintain accurate records and reports related to scholarship distribution and ensure that funds are allocated appropriately. Performs other related duties as assigned.
