Job Details The Role The Senior Director, Pricing & Market Access – U.S. Commercial is responsible for executing and operationalizing U.S. pricing, market access, and reimbursement strategies to optimize product access and commercial success. This role plays a key role in translating strategic pricing frameworks into actionable initiatives, ensuring pricing governance adherence, and supporting payer and government contracting processes. The Senior Director will work cross-functionally with key internal partners across Commercial, Finance, Market Access, Legal, Government Affairs, and Operations to drive the successful execution of pricing and market access initiatives. This position will also oversee the day-to-day pricing implementation, contract execution, and vendor oversight to ensure compliance with both commercial and government payer requirements. Here’s What You’ll Do Pricing & Market Access Execution Execute U.S. pricing and market access strategies for Moderna’s in-line and pipeline products, ensuring seamless implementation in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders. Manage operational aspects of Moderna’s pricing and contracting models, ensuring alignment with corporate pricing governance and U.S. payer market dynamics. Support list price and channel pricing execution, leveraging financial models and pricing analytics to optimize payer and market access strategies. Drive operational execution of payer engagement strategies, ensuring tactical alignment with U.S. market access objectives and regulatory requirements. Oversee the operational implementation of Moderna’s Patient Assistance Program, collaborating with internal teams to ensure seamless administration and compliance. Pricing Governance & Compliance Ensure adherence to pricing governance policies, maintaining alignment with corporate and regulatory standards. Support the Pricing Committee by providing data-driven insights, scenario analyses, and pricing analytics that inform strategic decisions. Develop and maintain pricing SOPs and executional frameworks, ensuring alignment with federal and state pricing policies while supporting Moderna’s strategic objectives. Government Pricing & Contracting Execution Manage the operational execution of government pricing and contracting, including Medicaid, Medicare, FSS, and PHS pricing compliance. Oversee government price reporting and analytics, ensuring accurate and compliant submissions in coordination with finance, legal, and external vendors. Support vendor oversight and performance monitoring, identifying process improvements and ensuring operational excellence in government pricing systems and reporting. Conduct pricing impact assessments related to evolving government legislation (e.g., Inflation Reduction Act, Medicaid price transparency rules, PHS contract pricing policies) and provide recommendations to leadership. Operational Payer & Channel Strategy Execution Manage tactical execution of payer and institutional pricing strategies, ensuring alignment with U.S. market access objectives. Support implementation of payer contract terms, working closely with account management and contracting teams to ensure proper pricing and reimbursement execution. Conduct post-deal analytics and performance tracking, identifying opportunities for optimization and ensuring alignment with Moderna’s pricing policies. Cross-Functional Leadership & Collaboration Lead execution-focused cross-functional working groups, ensuring pricing and market access strategies are seamlessly implemented across teams. Collaborate with internal finance, market access, and account management teams to translate strategic pricing frameworks into operational workflows. Partner with legal, compliance, and government affairs to ensure pricing models and reimbursement strategies remain aligned with federal, state, and payer regulatory requirements. Here’s What You’ll Need (Basic Qualifications) Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, or a related field, or equivalent experience. 12+ years of experience in the pharmaceutical/biotech industry, with at least 8 years focused on pricing and contracting (including commercial, Medicare Part D, Medicaid, FSS, and PHS contracting). Proven experience in pricing execution, including operational implementation of pricing strategies, payer contracts, and reimbursement models. Working knowledge of U.S. accounting principles, including gross-to-net forecasting, revenue recognition, and financial modeling. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with experience working closely with data, vendors, customers, and contracts to resolve operational challenges. Expertise in executing government pricing requirements, including GP calculations, Medicaid reporting, and state price transparency compliance. Experience managing pricing operations and contract implementation, including commercial payers, Medicare Part D, and institutional markets (B2B, B2G). Ability to lead execution-focused cross-functional initiatives, ensuring seamless alignment between pricing strategies and operational workflows. Strong external network and relationships with payers, healthcare organizations, and trade associations. Exceptional collaboration skills, with the ability to drive operational innovation and process improvement.
