Homestead Agent 3.8 3.8 out of 5 stars 8700 Hospital Drive, Douglasville, GA 30134 Job Summary This position is responsible for the timely process of assisting and completing Homestead Exemption applications. Verifies Income eligibility enters exemptions in computer; maintain and update existing applications; assists and interacts with internal and external customers daily. The employee works independently under the general supervision of the Chief Appraiser.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

Duties include but are not limited to: Reviewing homestead applications to ensure that all documents have been verified for income eligibility and processed accurately for exemption purposes Receive analyze prepare process respond to approve or deny and/or scans exemption and portability applications; while ensuring the applicant understand the information necessary to qualify for and receive the exemption(s) Analyze deeds trust agreements affidavits name and ownership changes Provide customer service support to the front office and property owners Answer telephone and email enquiries regarding exemption related issues Perform intermediate research on homestead exemptions name changes deceased probate list seniors and disabled veterans Performs other duties as assigned

Education and Experience:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED) One year of customer service exemption or data entry work experience An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered

Requirements:

Must be 21 years of age or older Possess and maintain a valid Georgia Driver’s License (Class C) and a satisfactory motor vehicle record (MVR) if assigned job duties requiring the use of a vehicle

Knowledge Skills and Abilities:

Knowledge of state laws and regulations pertaining to Georgia exemption codes Knowledgeable about statues and laws pertaining to the homestead exemption process Possess typing skills good relational and communication skills Knowledge of computers and standard homestead software applications Ability to learn to interpret and apply State Property Tax Code provisions Required to complete ongoing data entry and regular written communication with taxpayers Ability to communicate and interact effectively with attorneys other government agencies and the general public Knowledgeable of or capable of working with the Homestead Exemption Eligibility groups and their requirements Ability to maintain personal identity confidential client information Knowledge of Microsoft Word and e-mail preferably Ability to participate in front office coverage departmental meetings and educational courses related to organizational efforts as directed Employment is contingent upon passing a mandatory Background Investigation MVR Medical Exam and Drug Screening.

Salary:
