Primary duties include, but are not necessarily limited to, the following: Performing appraisals and assessment duties on residential and commercial properties; Conduct field inspections and sketch building permit data; Perform appraisal reviews and make preliminary property valuations; Respond to inquiries from residents and general public regarding property assessments, the assessment process, and exemptions; Review and make determinations with respect to applications for tax exemption; Review sales for accuracy and make adjustments to inventory and/or assessments as warranted; Supervise assessment staff in the collection and recording of assessment related data Prepare miscellaneous reports and records are required Use Microsoft applications such as Word, Excel, Outlook and other database software for work assignments; Attend hearings of the Board of Assessment Review in the Assessor’s absence;

Minimum Qualifications:

A. Graduation from an accredited college or university with at least an Associate’s degree and one (1) year of experience as an appraiser, real estate broker, realtor, valuation data manager, real property appraisal aide, or in commercial construction administration; OR B. Graduation from high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma and three (3) years of experience as an appraiser, real estate broker, realtor, valuation data manager, real property appraisal aide, or in commercial construction administration. Starting salary for this position is: $59,074 Town benefits include paid vacation, personal, holiday, sick time, medical, dental, and vision insurance, and New York State Retirement.
