Municipal Inspection Partners is a Nashville-based community development and building code consulting company. We provide a multitude of services for public and private-sector entities which include building, mechanical, plumbing and electrical inspections, engineer’s letters, 3rd party building construction plan review, stormwater review, building permit expediting services, building code consulting and building code training. We specialize in project assistance and permit expediting projects in Metro-Nashville and Davidson County with additional offices located in Chicago Illinois, Huntsville Alabama, and Naples Florida. Our mission is to ensure safer communities through effective code enforcement activities. Our customer is our priority, and we work hard to meet expectations both now and in the future. We have an immediate need for an energetic Permit Specialist. This in-office position will work with expediting team to compile the documents needed to process building permit applications. Responsible for will tracking and monitoring each stage of the building permit approval process, and this role is key to the timely approval and issuance client permits. The ideal applicant should have at least 1 year of permit expediting experience in the Nashville market, but we are willing to train the right candidate! Responsibilities:
Review and submit building permit applications and obtain building permit approvals for various construction projects Follow up with clients and project consultants on items needed for application submission Assists clients in a friendly, courteous, professional manner using clear oral and written business communications Process and track online permits daily Monitor active projects at various stages in the building permit application process Take the initiative to assist in speeding up various project approvals Be responsible for project data entry, and drafting of various letters/memos, plan reviews Ability to grasp the understanding of various project drawings and plans May be required on occasion to meet with local government departments on client projects Stays abreast of continuously changing building regulations and notify staff as applicable Other duties as assigned
Experience/Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED required One (1) year of permit expediting experience or; Two (2) years full time general administrative experience, preferably construction related Knowledge of construction processes including building permitting, and in progress timelines related to building/construction projects, preferred Knowledge of building permit operation practices and procedures inclusive of specific software for building permitting processes, preferred Permit Technician Certification from the International Code Council highly preferred A combination of education and experience may be considered High level of attention to detail and accuracy Ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing and follow professional protocol. Must be a fast learner who takes initiative Be able to work well under pressure Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Must have strong time management skills, highly organized, and have the skills to work well independently, and with a team
