Job Description
This Risk / Compliance Consultant role is on a HYBRID schedule, requiring the candidate to commute to a Jersey City office location 1 day per week; 4 days per week remote. We seeking an experienced compliance professional to join the Compliance Risk Assessment (CRA) team within the Compliance Department Americas Division (CPAD). This role reports to the Executive Director, Head of Risk and Control Assessment. The CRA team is responsible for managing a comprehensive compliance risk assessment framework to identify and assess regulatory compliance risks and internal controls, excluding financial crimes (AML, Sanctions, Fraud, and Bribery), which are covered under a separate program. The CRA results inform monitoring and testing activities and help prioritize Compliance and other resources in response to emerging risks. This role involves conducting compliance risk assessments of wholesale banking operations, including leading workshops with first line of defense (1LOD) and Compliance subject matter experts to assess risks and controls related to deposits and lending activities. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in project management, risk management, and internal controls, along with deep knowledge of U.S. banking regulations and wholesale banking products and services.
Responsibilities:
Execute compliance risk assessments of wholesale banking operations Lead workshops with 1LOD and 2LOD subject matter experts to review and challenge risk and control ratings and control mapping Utilize CRA technology solutions to document assessments Assist in presenting CRA results to senior management, highlighting compliance risk levels and control effectiveness Develop risk dashboards to monitor regulatory compliance risk profiles Support integration of CRA results with Compliance Department activities, including documentation of key controls and development of monitoring and testing plans
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree required; JD or MBA is a strong plus Minimum 15 years of regulatory or compliance experience with strong knowledge of U.S. banking regulations (e.g., FRB, CFPB) and related products and services Experience in Compliance Advisory roles or conducting Compliance Risk Assessments is a strong plus Strong interpersonal and communication skills to engage with all levels of management Proven ability to manage multiple projects and adjust priorities as needed Strong analytical skills to interpret project goals and translate them into actionable steps Ability to analyze data, identify trends, and recommend measures to mitigate compliance risk
