- -The Director of AI Risk and Policy will lead theimplementation and oversight of Schwab’s AI risk managementstrategies.
This role collaborates closely with legal, risk, andcompliance teams to ensure alignment, enhance existing processes,and embed responsible AI practices across the organization. Byworking in partnership with these functions, this role aims tocreate a unified approach to AI risk governance, helping Schwabproactively manage risks while enabling innovation.
- What you’lldo:
- Develop and execute a comprehensive AI risk managementframework that complements existing risk, legal, and complianceefforts.
- Define policies, standards, and best practices for AIethics, privacy, and security.
- Partner with legal, risk, andcompliance teams to address AI-specific regulatory requirements,ensuring that efforts are collaborative and mutually supportive
- Act as a resource to legal, risk, and compliance functions,providing expertise in AI technologies and their implications forpolicy and risk management.
- Collaborate with externalstakeholders, including regulators and industry groups, to stayahead of emerging AI risks and compliance trends.
- Prepare regularreports for senior management on AI risk metrics, incidents, andtrends, ensuring transparency and alignment with existinggovernance processes.
- Prepare materials for Schwab’s AI Council,composed of senior leadership, to support key decision-making on AIpolicy, governance, and strategic priorities.
- Promote a culture ofethical AI use by partnering with cross-functional teams to driveawareness, education, and training initiatives across theorganization.
- Serve as a subject matter expert for AI governance,ensuring that AI risk management practices evolve with the latestadvancements in technology and policy.
What you have
RequiredQualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, DataScience, Risk Management, or a related field. A Master’s degree ispreferred.
- 8+ years of experience in risk management, compliance,or a related field, with at least 3 years focusing on AI/MLsystems.
- 3+ years of experience Demonstrated expertise in AI/MLtechnologies, frameworks, and their ethical, legal, and societalimplications.
- 5+ years of Proven experience developing andimplementing risk management frameworks in collaboration withlegal, compliance, and risk teams.
- 3+ years of experience withStrong knowledge of regulations and standards related to AI ethics,privacy, and security.

Excellentanalytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Strongleadership and communication abilities, with experience workingcollaboratively with cross-functional teams.
- Certifications suchas Certified Information Systems Risk Manager (CISRM) or similarare a plus.
