Responsibilities We’re looking for an enthusiastic individual who thrives on a collaborative, relationship driven approach to risk management. The Director of Risk Management will l ead efforts in providing exceptional Risk Management services to prospective and current Berkley Industrial Comp clients. Manage designated territory in addition to providing guidance and mentoring to other risk management team members. This role will work closely with the VP, CUO to develop cutting edge service platforms to maintain BIN’s risk management competitive advantage in the existing marketplace. Lead risk management staff in delivering exceptional client service, developing client risk management safety and health plans and participating in client risk management programs offering recommendations for continuous improvement. Conduct risk assessments for prospective and existing clients and compile and deliver timely, accurate and unambiguous written risk assessments to Underwriting. Focus of the position and staff assigned, will involve completing surveys for Workers Compensation risks within large commercial high hazard, mining and mining related industry segments. Build and maintain positive working relationships with current and prospective customers, key agents/brokers and internal colleagues. Must demonstrate expertise in customer service and marketing, with exceptional interpersonal communication skills. Provide in-house technical expertise to train and counsel Berkley Industrial Comp staff on risk management and emerging issues. Assume an instrumental, participative role in the future development and implementation of company-wide loss control guidelines and infrastructure. Development and assist in the research, development and utilization of new loss control services. Exhibit an innovative curiosity to consider “outside-the-box” risk management initiatives. Provide staff reviews and accountability of company equipment, expense accounts. Conduct individual staff reviews and assessments. Complete reports as necessary. Extensive (50% overnight travel required. Operate independently and productively in a remote physical location or office environment. Must be highly motivated, efficient, flexible and accountable. Embodies high degree of maturity and self-management, requiring minimal supervision. Qualifications Minimum of 7 years workers compensation insurance industry experience needed with a minimum of 5 years prior client services and/or risk management experience as well as prior account management experience. Minimum of 5 years prior leadership and management experience. Insurance or Safety Designations such as CPCU, AIC, ARM, and CSP preferred. Must have completed the OSHA General Industry and OSHA General Construction Course Experience with MSHA (surface and underground); MSHA Part 48 preferred Knowledge of Industrial Hygiene principals; certified dust sampler and knowledge or use of dosimeters and sound level meter highly preferred Proficient in utilizing Power BI and other analytical tools to support informed decisions within the risk management process Ability to present and deliver KPI initiatives to the executive management team Education Bachelor’s degree, preferably in field of Risk Management, Health & Safety, Engineering, or Chemistry Master’s Degree ( preferred) from an accredited university with an emphasis in Business Management, Safety and Health Management or related or Engineering discipline.
