SUMMARY The primary responsibility of this position is to lead FHN s Strategic Risk Management program in the second line of defense. Provide effective challenge and oversight of the strategic planning process, coordinate Risk s assessment of the strategic plan and alignment with Risk Appetite, ongoing monitoring of results, including M&A activities and Line of Business initiatives. Support leadership in the planning and execution of risk management initiatives, including strategic initiatives, technology projects, heightened regulatory standards, and collaborate with leaders across the risk management organization, first line business units, and control functions to support strategic initiative execution and oversight

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Accountable for the strategic risk management framework, policies, and procedures in line with industry best practices and regulatory requirements. Conduct regular assessments of the organization’s strategic objectives and identify potential risks that could impact the achievement of these goals. Provide credible challenge of the long-term Strategic Planning process with emphasis on business model, balance sheet assumptions, external factors (including economic, political and regulatory), and income and expense assumptions. Monitor financial results and other relevant metrics to be consistent with the long-term Strategic Plan and provide credible challenge when appropriate. Provide credible challenge of strategic assessments of acquisitions and major projects for investment, with an emphasis on modeled results, strategic fit, and adherence to strategic goals. Coordinate with the strategic program offices to provide advice and guidance on regulatory expectations; monitor and report on progress and risks. Coordinate with the Recovery and Resolution Planning team to provide risk oversight of plan submission and capabilities testing; liaison with appropriate Risk subject matter experts. Coordinate with other Risk Management leadership and perform consolidated monitoring and reporting of all key Risk initiatives. Routinely interact with executive management, supervisory examiners, and auditors. Participate in various ad-hoc projects and develop presentations as needed.

Build and lead team within Risk and influence across the organization to achieve objectives of strategic plans within the bank s stated risk appetite

QUALIFICATIONS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Additionally, the qualifications listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or abilities required in this position: Bachelor (4-year college) degree required. Graduate degree preferred. Financial Institution or regulatory experience required (10 + years). Risk Management and/or compliance background preferred (5-7 years). Proficient level of knowledge of the various laws, regulations and rulings and ability to research and interpret the requirements of the regulations required. Proficient knowledge of Banking Products and Services required. Must possess strong organizational skills, ability to multi-task and manage workflow, prioritize, adjust to changes, and follow-up. Must possess analytical, problem solving, and critical thinking skills. Must possess strong written, verbal, and interpersonal skills.
