- Job SummaryOversee activities within the organization’s risk management department to reduce risk and legal liability while ensuring compliance with regulations.
Reports to the Chief Underwriting Officer.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify and evaluate risks for policyholders, products, or programs
- Develop and implement strategies to mitigate liabilities
- Prepare and present risk reports, historical loss data, and future projections to management
- Manage 3rd party vendor providing risk control services
- Perform risk control surveys on large accounts; perform value added services
- Ensure compliance with safety legislation, industry standards, and market requirements
- Assist with selecting and negotiating insurance policies and coverage
- Participate in claims reviews and inquiries
- Collaborate with Underwriting staff including training
- Conduct risk assessments and analyze documentation, reports, and market trends
- Establish and review policies and procedures to address organizational risks
- Implement risk management solutions (e.g., insurance, safety policies, business continuity plans)
- Draft and present risk proposals and reports to leadership
- Analyze metrics such as inventory, and employee activity to detect fraudulent behavior
- Perform additional responsibilities as assigned by leadership
- Other dutiesRequired Skills and Abilities
- Must have 5 years or more recent years of experience as a Risk Manager and any experience in the insurance space is a plus
- Bachelor’s degree in Risk Management, ARM, or related field required
- Professional certifications (e.g., CPCU, CIC, ARM) are a plus
- Comprehensive knowledge of risk management policies and best practices
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
- Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and critical-thinking skills
- Strong organizational, leadership, and collaboration abilities.
