As the Risk Safety and Liability Manager, you will: Serve as the city’s go-to expert on all things safety, risk, and liability Lead cross-departmental initiatives to minimize exposure and enhance operational safety Oversee claims management for workers’ compensation, general liability, and property damage Act as the primary liaison for insurance providers and third-party administrators Supervise the Risk Safety Specialist and support safety training citywide Drive the city’s safety culture, risk strategy, and emergency readiness plans Represent the City in legal matters, negotiations, and mediations related to claims and insurance Recommend and manage coverage for property, auto, excess liability, and more Guide departments on contractual risk, indemnification, and claim mitigation strategies Report directly to executive leadership on trends, outcomes, and safety performance What makes you a strong Risk Safety and Liability Manager candidate? You hold a Bachelor’s degree in Public Administration, Business, or related field You bring at least 5 years of experience in risk, liability, claims, or safety (public sector preferred) You have sharp judgment, outstanding communication skills, and a solutions-first mindset You’re familiar with insurance regulations, government operations, and safety best practices A Claims Adjuster License, ARM/ARM-P, or CPCU designation?
