OVERVIEW:

The Commercial Insurance Risk Manager plays a key role in safeguarding the company’s assets and operations by managing its commercial insurance and risk management programs. The role serves as the primary internal resource for insurance-related matters, providing strategic guidance on contract compliance, claims management, and risk mitigation practices. The Risk Manager works closely with internal departments and external brokers to ensure insurance coverage aligns with the company’s evolving operational needs, contractual obligations, and risk profile.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Lead the renewal process for commercial property and casualty insurance programs, including data collection, exposure analysis, and coordination with brokers and underwriters to ensure timely placement and renewal of insurance policies are in alignment with business needs and the company’s insurance strategy. Review and analyze insurance requirements in vendor, lease, and other third-party contracts; provide guidance to internal stakeholders to ensure contract terms align with insurance capabilities and obligations. Assist in the intake and processing of property and liability claims, acting as a liaison with insurance carriers and internal departments. Monitor and promote best practices for claims handling, safety initiatives, and loss control efforts across the organization. Prepare monthly and quarterly claim reports; identify trends and recommend mitigation strategies. Serve as the central point of contact for internal stakeholders regarding insurance policies, coverage questions, and risk-related issues. Collaborate with business units and leadership on insurance matters related to acquisitions, new operations, and ongoing business activities. Oversee insurance audits and ensure the accuracy of data provided. Maintain documentation and reports to support internal and external insurance inquiries and compliance needs. Perform additional duties as assigned.

KEY RESULT AREAS

Ensure timely, accurate placement and renewal of all insurance policies, supported by current exposure data and documentation. Drive reduction in claims through proactive risk strategies and efficient claims processing and oversight. Align insurance provisions in contracts with coverage capabilities while delivering timely, strategic guidance to internal stakeholders. Produce accurate insurance reports and audit responses, leveraging data to identify trends and support continuous improvement. Consistently provide world-class customer service while maintaining compliance with all applicable regulations and company policies.

QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s degree in Risk Management, Finance, Accounting, Business, or a related field; insurance designations (e.g., ARM, CPCU) are a plus. Minimum of 8 years of experience in commercial insurance, risk management, or claims; corporate or brokerage background preferred. Strong understanding and experience in the procurement of domestic and international property, casualty insurance, management liability products, and insurance program structures. Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills; proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment.
