- This position will have responsibility for overseeing and managing operational risk and policy and compliance programs within the Legal Department as well as optimizing and enhancing related Legal Department processes.
The role provides centralized subject matter expertise and oversight of Legal Department responsibilities related to Legal Department and Enterprise policies, incorporating best practices. Other responsibilities include working with subject matter experts to draft policies and procedures, leading risk-management initiatives and assessments for the Legal Department, and developing governance and compliance programs, including communications and training. The position also will serve as the primary contact and representative of the Legal Department with respect to enterprise change management, third-party risk management, and various other enterprise risk programs.
- Role is 4 days office centric – this is NOT a remote opportunity.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Use critical thinking, creativity, and operational excellence to develop, implement, and provide centralized oversight of risk management and compliance programs and initiatives within the Legal Department. 2. Drive strategy for Legal Department policy and procedure development, including by working closely with subject matter experts in the Legal Department and across Truist to draft and enhance Legal Department policies and procedures. 3. Manage Legal Department policy and procedure governance, including policy research and development, acquiring policy approvals, policy communications, and policy training. 4. Serve as primary contact and representative of the Legal Department with respect to enterprise risk management programs, including change and third-party risk management. Build processes to support the effectiveness and efficiency of new or existing enterprise risk initiatives. 5. Support responses to risk, compliance, or audit-related reviews and regulatory exams as needed. 6. Develop strategies and processes to assess operational risks within the Legal Department and assist in overseeing mitigation efforts and management of issues to resolution. 7. Collaborate with Legal Department leaders and stakeholders across the enterprise for holistic understanding of enterprise policy and procedure responsibilities in furtherance of Legal Department risk and compliance program development. 8. Work closely with other Legal Operations teammates on program and process execution, optimizing use of available technology. 9. Stay abreast of industry trends related to risk management and Legal Department operations. 10. Support and lead ad-hoc projects related to legal operations.

Required Qualifications:

Understanding of process design and governance. 4. 5 or more years of professional experience in operations at a company, preferably within a legal department or risk or compliance-related function. 5. Able to embrace change. 6. Demonstrated ability to effectively lead work teams and projects. 7. Strong analytical and research skills with attention to detail. 8. Superb verbal and written communication skills, including writing and drafting skills. 9. Ability to work within a large organization and collaborate and partner with cross-functional teams. 10. Ability to interact effectively with people at all organizational levels of the firm and build strong relationships with internal stakeholders. 11. Executive presence and ability to act as primary contact for Chief Legal Officer and Deputy General Counsels on areas of responsibility. 12. Ability to work independently to successfully build and sustain operational programs. 13. Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite.

Preferred Qualifications:
- 1. JD or prior relevant experience in risk management or compliance. 2. Strong organizational skills. 3. Experience in drafting policies, procedures, and training documents. 4. Experience working in Compliance, Legal, or Risk Departments in a large financial services company.
