The temporary, part-time Risk Management Specialist will support various functions of the Risk Management division, gaining hands-on experience in insurance administration, claims management, actuarial reporting, and data analysis.

The Risk Management Division is at the forefront of protecting City resources, supporting operations and enabling resilient service delivery. We identify, assess, and manage risks that could impact the effective operation of the City programs and services. Our team works collaboratively across departments to ensure decisions are informed, and operations are secure, while maintaining transparency to the community.

EXAMPLE OF DUTIES

Assists with insurance program administration, including reviewing certificates of insurance, gathering renewal data, processing invoices, and supporting the annual insurance application processPerforms basic research and analysis related to claims; identifies source and communicates with appropriate parties to gather supporting documents and response information. Determines claim status and next steps in administrative process and may pursue third-party, at-fault property claims to maximize recoveryParticipates in the actuarial reporting process by helping to compile data, interpret findings, and identify insights related to liability, workers’ compensation, and property exposuresContributes to ongoing risk initiatives by researching best practices, supporting risk mitigation projects, and helping analyze departmental data to identify areas of operational riskProvides customer support, responding to information requests and answering questions related to process, procedures and timelines
