PURPOSE OF POSITION
The Associate Director has specific responsibilities regarding gathering and analyzing data,conducting clinical reviews and preparing reports. Assists and supervises staff in day to day operations of the Risk Management department.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Assists in the development, implementation and monitoring of Risk Management projects,policies and procedures.
2. Provides consultation/assistance to medical, clinical staff on hospital policies.
3. Identification and submission of NYPORTS occurrences. Assures timely reporting of such as required by law.
Participates in the investigation of occurrences and RCA activities.
4. Maintains an awareness of legislative and regulatory activities related to health care risk management.
5. Assist to provide training to hospital personnel to enhance their awareness of their role in reducing liability exposures.
6. Assist in responding to professional liability and facility liability questions posed by physicians, nurses, and others.
7. Keeps the Director of Risk Management apprised of quality of care issues as well as those liability issues identified.
Makes recommendations.
8. Investigates occurrences/events, identified risk management issues, and prepares reports. 9. Conducts chart and medical record reviews and prepares summaries of findings; refers patient quality of care issues to the appropriate personnel or department for additional review and analysis.
10. Attends various hospital committee meetings as assigned (i.e. Department PI meetings, etc).
11. Provides on-going monitoring of identified potential risks that exist in the areas of hospital operations or in the rendering of medical and nursing care.
12. Participates in the orientation of new risk management staff.
13. Provides on-call coverage for risk management issues during off hours, weekends, and holidays, as assigned by the Director of Risk Management.
14. Prepares reports, monthly reports etc. and maintains statistics as required.
15. Assists in the preparation of quarterly Board of Directors reports regarding occurrences and investigative findings, including actions taken to prevent/reduce reoccurrences and improve performance and patient safety.
16. May prepare correspondences or other documentation, as directed, for Counsel in the medical litigation division, outside Counsel retained by the Corporation and/or regulatory agencies, regarding pre-litigation and litigation cases.
17. Informed the Director of Risk Management of all issues and outcomes. Minimum Qualifications 1.Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in Hospital, Health, Public or Business Administration, Healthcare Management, Public Health or a related discipline; and four (4) years of full-time, paid progressively responsible experience in hospital administration with an emphasis on the development and evaluation of health care delivery services; or
2.Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in disciplines, as listed in #1 above; and five (5) years of full-time, paid experience, as described in #1 above. How To Apply If you wish to apply for this position,
