Job Description
Head of Credit & Other Risks Confidential New York, NY 10019 Key Responsibilities Responsible for identifying, assessing, monitoring and controlling various risks such as credit, market, interest rate, liquidity and new product and operational risks. Member of various local Committees. Working knowledge of the changing economy together with creative skills and analytical skills to ensure sound judgment in risk management. To formulate and review risk management policies and guidelines to facilitate the implementation of the Head Office’s business strategies; to cater for market development and to fulfill the statutory regulations. To ensure credit and operational risk related policies are in-line between the US branches and adhere to Head Office’s guidelines and strategies. To proactively watch out for opportunities to align and/or streamline credit workflows between the US branches with the objective to create synergy and to share best practices. To identify and conduct assessment on the relevant risk exposures faced by the Bank. To monitor the compliance with the Bank Group’s risk management policies and the statutory requirements. To promote and cultivate strong risk management culture within the Bank; and to maintain effective interactive communications on risk management related issues with relevant parties including business units, operational managers, senior executive, regulators, auditors and Head Office. To attend and participate in various committee meetings including but not limited to Credit Committee, Risk Committee, Management Committee, Asset / Liability Risk Management committee. To approve credit proposals originated by other branch that falls under the incumbent’s lending authority as stipulated in the Credit Risk Management Manual; and to attend the Branch Credit Oversight Committee meeting to discuss the relevant credit proposals and to gain insight of the other Branch’s credit appetite To plan and allocate proper resources to carry out the functions of risk management. To supervise Credit and Risk Management officers in managing various risks including credit, market, interest rate, liquidity, new product, and operational risks. To assists in problem loan restructuring and collections and to manage the asset quality of the Bank To provide / arrange training for credit / risk management personnel. To assist Head Office as well as other branches with credit investigations and other risk management related inquiries. To prepares risk analysis as required. To proactively look for appropriate fintech, and where feasible, apply such fintech for risk management purposes. Responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of the Risk Management Department. To carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. Skills and Experiences Bachelor’s degree (B. A.) from four-year College or University in Business or Finance; and 10+ years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Knowledge of Accounting software; Database software; Internet software; Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software. Minimum of 10 to 15 years related experience in Banks / Financial Institutions Minimum five years of supervisory experience
