Direct Refrigeration Sales (DRS) is a leading supplier of aftermarket commercial refrigerator door gaskets, frame parts, and strip curtains. Our continued growth has created the opportunity for a knowledgeable, versatile, experienced Sales and Use Tax Accountant to join our winning team.
POSITION SUMMARY
The accountant / sales tax specialist will be responsible for sales and use tax compliance, as well as assisting with all general accounting functions for the company. This individual will oversee the indirect tax process and collaborate with various teams across the organization to ensure compliance and contribute to the development of best practices and effective tax strategies. The candidate will also assist in the processing of accounting transactions and preparation of financial statements in accordance with
GAAP. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Coordinates the accurate and timely preparation of multi-state sales and use tax returns, while ensuring required tax filing deadlines are met. Resolves sales and use tax notices through written and oral communication. Works with cross-functional teams to manage and maintain customer sales tax exemption certificates, ensuring compliance and resolving disputes. Maintains and reconciles tax account balances and prepare monthly reports. Establishes resources with various state taxing authorities to stay current with changes in tax laws and regulations and manages tax notices. Assists with state income and sales tax audits. Performs accounting functions, including accounts receivable, accounts payable, cash management, journal entries, account reconciliations, and month-end close processes. Analyzes data trends and creates ad-hoc financial reporting to track the company’s financial performance. Performs any other duties and/or projects as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
(KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND
ABILITIES
) Strong knowledge of multi-state sales and use tax regulations and compliance processes. Familiar with GAAP controls. Experience with ERP accounting systems. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail. Ability to maintain confidential information. Proficient in Microsoft Access, Excel, Outlook, and Word. Solid time management, planning, and organizing skills. Effective written and verbal communication skills. Committed to providing great customer service to internal and external parties.
EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION
Four-year college degree in Accounting or Finance, or a related field. A minimum of three years’ experience in accounting or finance with a minimum of 1-2 years of sales and use tax compliance.
