Job Summary:
The Client Tax Specialist will be responsible for preparing and reviewing individual tax returns while ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations. This role requires a deep knowledge of tax law – particularly in Massachusetts, New Hampshire, and Michigan, where our offices are located – as well as the ability to develop and implement tax planning strategies that optimize our clients’ financial well-being. As a key member of our growing team, the Client Tax Specialist will collaborate closely with financial advisors and clients to ensure tax efficiency within their broader financial plans. Key Responsibilities:
- Research and interpret tax laws and regulations to ensure compliance and minimize tax burdens.
- Prepare and review federal, state, and local tax returns for individuals, trusts, and estates.
- Stay current on changes in tax legislation and industry best practices.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date tax documentation and records.
- Provide proactive tax planning strategies to optimize clients’ financial situations.
- Analyze client financial records to determine tax liabilities and deductions.
- Assist clients with IRS and state tax correspondence and audits, as needed.
- Provide exceptional client service by responding to inquiries and concerns promptly.
- Collaborate with financial advisors to integrate tax strategies with overall wealth management plans.
- Contribute to the development and enhancement of our tax program for the 2025 tax year and beyond, focusing on streamlined processes and innovative strategies.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to explain tax concepts to clients in a clear and concise manner.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- High level of integrity and confidentiality.

- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in tax preparation, preferably within wealth management or financial services.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.
- CPA, EA, or similar tax certification preferred.
- Strong knowledge of federal and state tax codes and compliance regulations.
- Comfortable adopting new software and AI tools to enhance accuracy and efficiency.
- Proficiency in tax preparation software and Microsoft Office Suite.
