The Tax Managing Director is responsible for applying industryspecific knowledge to advice clients on the tax implications oftheir business objections, evaluating and selecting alternativeactions to lessen tax burden and cost of compliance, identifyingdifferent methods of complying with tax regulations while acting asthe primary client contact for complex tax issues. In this role,Tax Managing Director is charged with applying knowledge tounderstand potential tax issues, and recognizing, communicatingpotential risks and potential changes in the tax policy and makingtop-level decisions regarding filing, preparation and resolution ofquestions from federal / state agencies. In addition, the TaxManaging Director will be critical member of the office / regionleadership team and thus will be involved in the direct supervisionas either a final or secondary reviewer under the partner. Finally,the Tax Managing Director actively participate in the marketing,networking and business development within an area of expertise andspecialization while maintaining client relationships and acting asthe primary contact for complex questions.
Job Duties:
TaxCompliance Ensures both that (a) clients comply with all applicableauthorities, while at the same time minimizing their tax andreporting burdens, and (b) self and client service teams complywith all Firm policies, standards, and the BDO Tax Quality Manual(“TQM”). Manages engagements to achieve engagement managementmetrics Practices hands-on client service delivery Responsible foroverall client service by encouraging team’s adherence to TQMpolicies (including engagement letters, documentation, etc)Research Identifies when research is needed; clearly and conciselyframes issues to be researched; and clearly and concisely reportsthe analysis. Identifies complex issues to be researched byengagement team and provides research methodology for efficientresearch process Technical reviewers of WTAs in an area ofexpertise, as applicable to role

(FAS 109 and FIN 48)Tax Accruals Correctly and proactively applies Firm policies,standards, and the BDO Tax Quality Manual (TQM) regarding FAS 109and FIN 48. Applies technical expertise regarding income taxprovisions in the area of international tax, valuation allowancecredits, business combinations, and stock based compensation issuesReviews and applies income tax provision efficiently Tax ConsultingAssists with developing, recommending, and implementing efficientand effective methods to maximize client benefits, especially bydecreasing clients’ current and future taxes. Applies expertknowledge of the process of combining tax knowledge and knowledgeof business/industry to recommend solutions and maximize results inthe Firm Applies general knowledge of multiple tax specialties(i.e. International, SALT, Estate Planning) for issueidentification and resolution Tax Specialization Develops anin-depth understanding of the technical and practical issues andopportunities regarding one or more areas of taxation, e.g.,individual, corporate, property, sales, corporate, pass-through,state and local, international, expatriate, transfer pricing,credits and incentives, compensation and benefits, accountingmethods, R D tax benefits. Has expert knowledge of applicationof standards Recognized as industry expert in specialized field oftaxation Use expertise to advise clients on tax implications andrecommend alternative courses of action and identify differentmethods of compliance Strategy Development Introduces and developsnew or improved ideas to improve the position of clients, the Firm,or Firm personnel, e.g., by reducing taxes or expenses or providingnon-tax benefits. Depending on specific role, may be required topresent complex strategies to clients and prospective clients Otherduties as required

Ability tosupervise associates, senior associates and managers, as thesituation dictates Reviews work prepared by associates and seniorassociates and provide review comments Acts as a Career Advisor toassociates, senior associates and managers Schedules and managesworkload of associates, senior associates and managers Providesverbal and written performance feedback to associates, seniorassociates and managers
Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills andAbilities:
Education:
Bachelors degree required; major inAccounting, Finance, Economics or Statistics preferred Masters inAccountancy or Taxation preferred
Experience:
Ten (10) or moreyears of prior relevant tax experience and/or public accounting,private industry accounting or consulting/professional servicesexperience required Industry expertise in one or more tax specialtypreferred Prior supervisory experience required
License/Certifications:
CPA certification, Attorney (admitted topractice in a U.S. jurisdiction), or Internal Revenue ServiceEnrolled Agent (“EA”) (or the equivalent of one of thesedesignations) required Possession of other professional degrees orcertifications applicable to role preferred
Software:
Proficientwith the Microsoft Office Suite preferred Experience with taxresearch databases and tax compliance process software preferred
