Position Information
The purpose of this classification is to perform administrative and field work to collect delinquent property taxes for the County

Essential Functions
Essential Functions
Attempts to collect delinquent real estate, personal property taxes and other fees in accordance with applicable codes, laws, rules, regulations, standards, policies and procedures: amends and records Fieri Facias (FI FA); conducts a pre-levy site visits; notifies taxpayer as required; conducts non-judicial tax sales; may administer other means of collection such as levies; delivers bank levies to financial institutions for seizure of funds; and prepares legal advertisements
Researches, investigates, and analyzes tax inquiries: utilizes government systems and databases, various internet search engines, and tax map queries to assist in investigations; conducts detailed owner search to ascertain ownership of property; researches data; verifies legal codes and exemptions; prepares for site visit; reports and analyzes data; and verifies personal property returns for ownership and tax identification
Performs field inspections of personal, commercial, residential and special use properties: posts writ of FIFA prior to transfer of liens; photographs physical and economic characteristics of properties; identifies potential properties for tax sale; makes recommendations for bank levies; resolves complex problems such as senior citizens exemptions, structures and businesses that no longer exist, new businesses with no parcel identification number, and incorrect fair market values; and documents, analyzes, interprets, and evaluates information obtained from site visit
Performs customer service functions: receives and responds to inquiries from taxpayers/debtors, attorneys, trustees, mortgage companies and bankruptcy court employees; answers questions, provides information and assistance; initiates problem resolution; and assists attorneys in court during bankruptcy proceedings as required
Performs other related duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED required; supplemented by three years of experience in tax billing and collections
Physical Abilities
Tasks require the ability to exert very moderate physical effort in light work, typically involving some combination of stooping, kneeling, crouching and crawling, and which may involve some lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials of moderate weight (12-20 pounds)
Sensory Requirements
Some tasks require the ability to communicate orally
