Recovery Solutions Specialist Essential Credit Union Branch, LA

POSITION PURPOSE

Under general supervision, this role involves a wide variety of credit and collections responsibilities related to bankruptcy, legal and repossessions. Recovery Solutions Specialist is responsible in assisting the Member Solutions team by maintaining files, addressing delinquent payments currently in bankruptcy status, providing clerical support for the collections staff, Essential employees, and members. In addition, will be responsible for maintaining legal accounts, repossessions, claim filings, and payment reversals.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Prepare documents on all members that have filed for protection under chapter 13 and 7 bankruptcies. Prepare, process, and coordinate repossessions. Prepare and send right to redeem letters to members. Make sure that all repossessed movable property is sent to the auction. Performs adjustments in core system to collateral value as needed for charge-offs and/or repossessed property. Perform loan reversals as needed. Track all vehicles when notices are received from impound wrecker yards and verify the status of the vehicle to ensure that the credit union does not suffer a loss. Report negative share accounts to check systems. Process and keep records on all member activity in Collections and Core platform. Manage all inquiries referring to bankrupt accounts. Maintain information between attorneys, debtors, and trustees. Prepare proof of claims with the courts if necessary. Aid with collecting on delinquent accounts as needed. Aid in any request of management as needed. Maintains written procedures. File small legal claims, maintain files with attorney/ Justice of the Peace

JOB DESCRIPTION
Major Accountabilities:

Ensure all repossessions are accounted for by updating the collections system with the necessary repossession information and ensuring the data transfers to the repossession tracking spreadsheet. Make all repossessions that require a notice of sale and a notice of deficiency are provided proper notification in accordance with applicable law. Ensure all repossessed units are transported to an auction facility upon conclusion of the redemption period. Make sure all unredeemed repossessions are written down on or around the 21st day after repossession. Document all activity taken on a repossession thoroughly and timely. Files proof of claims on bankruptcies in timely manner with all documentation included to validate our claim. Notates that the proof of claim was filed and that the account is flagged as Bankruptcy. Reviews the bankruptcy plan and objects if adequate protection is not afforded to the credit union. Follows up on said objection to ensure that we are granted adequate protection. Ensures timely and accurate reviewing of the bankruptcy account and all meetings notated on the collections system. Ensures all payments from the bankruptcy court are applied in a timely manner. Ensure legal files are maintained

Job Specification:

High school diploma or equivalent required. Three (3) years previous collection experience to include collecting seriously delinquent accounts and charge off accounts. Bankruptcy and legal knowledge preferred. Strong organization skills

Work Experience:

Collecting experience in a financial institution setting. Knowledge of laws and regulations pertaining to collection of debt. Knowledge of reading credit reports. Ability to complete legal documents electronically and by mail. Must be familiar with Credit Union policies and procedures as well as the FDCPA (Fair Debt Collections Practice Act). Knowledge of laws and regulations pertaining to collection of debt. Knowledge of reading credit reports. Knowledge of Bankruptcy Laws. Knowledge of PACER (Public Access to Electronic Court Records). Must be familiar with credit union policies and procedures as well as the FDCPA (Fair Debt Collections Practice Act).

Skills, Abilities, and Knowledge:

Advanced Computer Knowledge Excellent written and oral communication skills. Sharp interpersonal skills Strong critical judgment skills in day-to-day situations. Ability to multi-task. Team player. Attention to detail. Physical Requirements Perform primarily sedentary work on computer or laptop for an average of eight (8) hours per day. Must be capable of climbing/descending stairs in emergency situations. Must be able to operate routine office equipment including telephone, copier, facsimile and calculator. Must be able to work extended hours whenever required or requested by management. Must by capable of regular, reliable, and timely attendance. Other Requirements Must be able to perform job functions with supervision and work effectively either on own or as part of a team. Must be able to read and carry out various instructions and follow oral instructions. Must be able to speak clearly and deliver information in a logical and understandable sequence. Must be able to perform basic mathematical calculations with extreme accuracy. Must be capable of dealing calmly and professionally with numerous different personalities from diverse cultures at various levels within and outside of the organization and demonstrate highest levels of customer service and discretion when dealing with the public. Must be able to perform responsibilities with composure under the stress of deadlines/requirements for extreme accuracy and quality and/or fast pace. Must be able to effectively handle multiple, simultaneous, and changing priorities. Must be capable of exercising highest level of discretion on confidential matters.
