Description:
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Tax Coordinator to join a dynamic private client department in Boston. This role involves the preparation and facilitation of fiduciary income tax returns, working closely with paralegals, a tax manager, and a trust operations group. The position offers opportunities for professional growth and collaboration in a high-caliber environment supporting trustees and fiduciary tax requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
Tax Return Preparation & Coordination:
Prepare and facilitate the accurate and timely filing of federal and state fiduciary income tax returns using OneSource ProSystem fx software. Collaborate with an outside accounting firm to ensure smooth transitions and workflows for tax preparation. Assist with the in-house preparation of fiduciary returns and provide review for accuracy.
Support Trustees:
Advise trustees on fiduciary tax matters and ensure they remain informed throughout the tax return preparation process. Address inquiries from trustees and beneficiaries professionally and promptly.
Client Service & Communication:
Represent the firm in fiduciary tax-related matters with clients, trustees, and beneficiaries. Deliver exceptional service by addressing client needs accurately and efficiently.
Compliance & Workflow Improvement:
Stay updated on federal and state tax laws, implementing process adjustments as needed. Contribute to the ongoing transition to outside tax preparation and recommend workflow improvements.
Timekeeping & Quality Control:
Track time meticulously, applying it to client matters. Maintain high standards of quality control for all fiduciary tax-related processes.
Qualifications:
Education:
Undergraduate degree required.
Experience:
Minimum of five years of experience in fiduciary tax preparation. Proficiency with Form 1041 and experience using OneSource and CCH Axcess fiduciary tax preparation software preferred. Familiarity with the SEI platform is a plus.
Skills:
Strong understanding of federal and state fiduciary tax laws. Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities. High attention to detail with a focus on accuracy and meeting deadlines.
