Description of Work The North Carolina Department of Revenue is recruiting for a Travel and Fixed Asset Specialist in the Budget Services Unit of our Financial Services Division. The Division’s primary purpose is to support the Department of Revenue’s mission of funding public services benefiting the people of North Carolina, through the administration of tax laws and collection of taxes due in an impartial, consistent, secure, and efficient manner. This position reports directly to the Budget Services Manager and its primary purpose is to audit and provide final approval of employee expense reimbursements, to ensure accurate recording, tracking, and accounting of the Department’s fixed assets, and to review, verify accuracy, and provide accurate account coding for certain invoices. These include but are not limited to the Department of Technology monthly telecommunication invoices and the Department of Administration Motor Fleet Management invoices. The position serves as the Department’s Expense Data Manager, is the administrator for the Department of Technology’s telecommunication and computing web portal and manages the monthly motor fleet invoicing process at the Department of Revenue.

Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business administration, or other curriculum that would provide a core curriculum in financial management coursework from an appropriately accredited institution; or Associate’s degree in accounting from an appropriately accredited institution and three (3) years of accounting or auditing experience; or High school or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and four (4) years of experience as an accounting technician, three of which must have been at an advanced technical level or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
