Job Description
Tax Manager – Strategic Tax Planning & Compliance Vaco is seeking an experienced Tax Manager to lead and expand a growing premium tax advisory firms’ tax services department. This position plays a key leadership role in ensuring tax compliance, developing innovative tax strategies, and supporting client financial goals across a variety of business structures and investment models. The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in tax-free strategies—particularly involving entrepreneurial ventures, alternative retirement planning vehicles, and investment structures such as self-directed IRAs and ROBS. This role requires strong analytical skills, leadership capabilities, and a forward-thinking approach to client service.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead and manage day-to-day operations of the tax department Prepare and review federal and state income tax returns for individuals and entities Develop and implement tax planning strategies to optimize client outcomes Proactively identify tax risks and present mitigation strategies Supervise and mentor tax team staff, providing guidance and performance assessments Establish and refine tax processes and best practices to enhance efficiency Oversee tax audits and liaise with auditors as needed Ensure accurate and timely preparation of all required tax documentation Maintain compliance with applicable federal, state, and local tax regulations Assist with internal audits and special projects requiring tax expertise
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field CPA designation (or equivalent certification) required Minimum 5 years in a tax leadership or public accounting role Deep knowledge of corporate tax code, compliance requirements, and planning techniques Experience with various tax structures and familiarity with state and federal regulations Demonstrated ability to lead a team and drive operational improvements Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
