The Position The TaxPlanning Manager will be responsible for developing andimplementing tax strategies to optimize the company’s tax positionand ensure compliance with all relevant tax laws and regulations.

This role involves collaborating with various departments,including finance, legal, and business operations – Research,Development, Manufacturing, Commercial and Business Development, aswell as headquarters to provide tax planning support for businessinitiatives and transactions in the U.S and globally. RelationshipsPosition reports to Director of Tax Strategy at Novo Nordisk Inc.(NNI). As part of NNI Finance, continual interaction withheadquarters taxes as well as line of business personnel at localoperations and global affiliates. Position will interact withexternal tax advisors, auditors and outside professionals asnecessary. Position will prepare, supervise, and managedeliverables independently as well as leveraging members of sharedservice team, interns and outside consultants. Essential Functions

TAX PLANNING

Assist Director of U.S. Tax Strategy and supportDirector of Tax Operations as the point of contact for all planningmatters in close alignment with the global tax strategy. Developand support tax planning strategies to minimize tax liabilities andensure compliance with international, federal, state, and local taxlaws. Model and implement US planning ideas, including globalinitiatives, and ensure proper understanding and integration by theUS Tax Operations team into existing processes. Keep the Directorof U.S. Tax Strategy frequently informed of all relevant planningopportunities and relevant developments in tax policy for NNUSaffiliates through monthly email reports or meetings. Strategicallyplan completion of deliverables to leverage available resources andfocus on value-added work. Provide high-quality deliverables readyfor Senior Management review.

INITIATIVES and

STRATEGY

Provide tax support for business initiatives, including mergers andacquisitions, restructurings, and other transactions. Partner withCorporate Tax, NNUS Tax Operations, business, and commercialfunctions to proactively identify and implement efficient taxplanning strategies, including developing and executing global andlocal tax initiatives to optimize the group effective tax rate andreduce cash taxes. Coordinate tax planning strategies andforecasting/reporting processes around US Federal and Stateproposed and enacted tax legislation and guidance, includingmodeling US impacts of changes to business and US footprint as wellas global tax authoritative guidance. Advise and communicate withmanagement on the status and outcomes of planning initiatives,opportunity areas, and relevant tax legislative impacts. Researchtax issues that arise in support of the business and providerecommendations to Corporate Tax and senior management in the formof email, memo, and PowerPoint. COORDINATION and

REPORTING

Build,maintain, and leverage internal stakeholder relationships to gainbusiness understanding and provide expert quality deliverables inthe form of tax planning proposals and advice. Secure anunderstanding of acquired assets and companies to integrate intothe existing tax footprint and processes optimally. Contribute tothe design, integration, and implementation of technology and datamanagement solutions to automate, streamline, standardize, andsupport data and process requirements for tax planning. Collaboratewith Tax, Finance, IT, and other internal and external stakeholdersin defining and documenting processes, system, technical, andfunctional requirements to maximize process efficiency. Ensureinitiatives are fully transitioned to NNUS Tax Operations team andaccurately and timely reported and disclosed on the tax return.

Maintain well-documented support for all planning initiativesimplemented and support NNUS Tax Operations team on tax audits as asubject matter expert. Physical Requirements 0-10% overnight travelrequired. Qualifications A bachelor’s degree is required in arelevant manor, preferably Accounting, Economics, BusinessAdministration, or Finance. CPA license or advanced degree highlydesired. A minimum of 5 years corporate tax experience either inpublic accounting, private industry, or both. Tax technicalcompetency covering a broad range of complex U.S. Federal, State,and International tax matters. Requires demonstrated ability towork independently, as a member or leader of a team using direct orindirect line authority. Ability to build relationships andcollaborate extensively with key business partners andstakeholders. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, SAP, OneSource orsimilar experience required. Ability to organize, effectivelymanage and prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced matrixenvironment The base compensation range for this position is$116,810 to $216,100 Base compensation is determined based on anumber of factors. This position is also eligible for a companybonus based on individual and company performance. Novo Nordiskoffers long-term incentive compensation and or company vehiclesdepending on the position’s level or other company factors.
