The Tax Managing Director, State and Local Taxation isresponsible for providing written tax advice to clients, evaluatingand alternate courses of action to lessen tax burden and cost ofcompliance, recognizing potential tax risks and identifyingpotential changes in tax policy and regulations. In this role, theTax Managing Director, State and Local Taxation will be chargedwith marketing, networking and business development within theirarea of experience and specialization and maintaining key clientrelationships. Additionally, the Tax Managing Director, State andLocal Taxation is a critical part of the office’s / region’s TaxServices leadership team, and will act as a source for guidance oncomplex tax questions and issues.

Job Duties:

Research Identifiesall situations when research is necessary, and conducts appropriateinvestigation on identified topics Analyzes researched facts andthe sources utilized Prepares studies of tax implications andoutlines alternative courses of action to clients Partners withother Core Tax and Specialized Tax Services professionals toresolve complex and contentious matters Tax Compliance Ensuresclients comply with applicable authorities while identifyingoptions for minimizing the client’s tax and reporting burdensManages engagements to ensure engagement metrics are achievedCollaborates with Business Development team and other strategicparties to drive sales tax compliance service offerings TaxConsulting Handles all inquiries from federal and state agenciesregarding all tax issues and questions Drafts responses to examinerquestions and challenges Monitors implementations of work plans fortax consulting projects Provides recommended solutions by combiningtax knowledge and knowledge of business / industry Tax ControversyRepresents clients before any tax authority on contested issuesResponds to all questions from federal or state agencies TaxSpecialization Acts as industry expert in SALT Identifiescross-selling opportunities with other tax specializations ManagesSALT services provided to assigned clients Develops tools and/orimprovements allowing for enhance the efficiency or services of theSALT practice Accounting for Income Taxes – SFAS109 Prepares taxaccrual workpapers

Qualifications,Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Education:

Bachelor’s degree inAccounting or other relevant field required Master’s degree inAccounting, Taxation or other relevant field preferred JurisDoctorate preferred

Experience:

Ten (10) or more years of priorSALT experience required Prior experience supervising taxprofessionals on a project or engagement basis required Priorexperience preparing and/or reviewing tax provisions high preferredPrior experience with corporate taxation, consolidations andpartnerships preferred

License/Certifications:

CPA certification orother relevant certification preferred

Software:

Proficient in theuse of Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Excel and Wordpreferred Exposure to and familiarity with standard taxapplications and research tools preferred
