We are seeking a highly motivated State and Local Tax (SALT) Manager to lead our SALT provision, compliance and audit processes. This role is responsible for managing all aspects of state and local income/franchise tax provision, compliance, audits, and planning initiatives. Additionally, this person will support the Director, State & Local Taxes in all state tax matters. The ideal candidate brings a strong technical background, operational experience, and a proactive mindset to identify tax savings opportunities and ensure compliance across jurisdictions.
This is a hybrid role based in Purchase, NY.Responsibilities
- Manage the end-to-end process for state income and franchise tax compliance, including preparation, review, and timely filing of returns, extensions, and estimated payments.
- Preparation of consolidated tax provision related to SALT in accordance with ASC 740.
- Lead state and local tax audits and communicate with tax authorities.
- Assist Director, State & Local Taxes with state tax impacts, nexus studies, apportionment analysis, and tax planning strategies related to business expansion, legal entity changes and restructuring.
- Identify, develop and implement process improvements and best practices to enhance SALT compliance and reporting.
- Maintain tax calendar and ensure timely compliance with all filing and payment deadlines.
- Partner with internal finance and accounting regarding divisional state tax matters, issue resolution and ensuring accurate and timely tax reporting.
- Monitor and interpret state tax law changes and summarize implications for internal stakeholders.
- Respond to state tax notices.
- Develop and maintain documentation of tax processes, filings, and compliance calendars to ensure consistency and readiness for audit.
- Work closely with and learn from senior tax leadership to develop your leadership, technical, and business skills.
Compensation and Benefits:
- The expected compensation range for this position is between $106,400 – $178,100.
- Location, confirmed job-related skills, experience, and education will be considered in setting actual starting salary. Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range during the hiring process.
- Bonus based on performance and eligibility target payout is 12% of annual salary paid out annually.

QualificationsMinimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- 5+ years of tax experience
- Deep understanding of U.
S. state and local income/franchise tax laws, rules, and apportionment methodologies
Preferred Qualifications:
- Masters Degree in taxation
- Progressive experience in state and local income taxation
- Currently in a managerial or supervisory role
- Proven track record of managing multi-state income tax compliance and audits
- Deep understanding of U.S. state and local income/franchise tax laws, rules, and apportionment methodologies
- Proficiency in tax preparation software and Microsoft excel; knowledge of CorpTax a plus
- Experience with tax research tools (e.g., CCH, BNA, RIA)
- Working knowledge of ASC 740 (Income Taxes) and related state provision processes preferred.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with an ability to interpret complex tax statutes and apply them to business operations
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills to interface with cross-functional teams, tax authorities, and external advisors
