Position Summary The Teller I is an essential member of ERCU’s front-line team, responsible for delivering excellent service to our members by processing transactions, answering inquiries, and maintaining the highest standards of accuracy. This role involves direct interaction with members, ensuring their banking needs are met while building relationships and promoting the credit union’s services. As a Teller I, you will help create positive experiences for our members and ensure operational accuracy. Key Responsibilities Customer Service Greet members warmly and assist them in a friendly, professional manner. Accurately process transactions, including deposits, withdrawals, transfers, loan payments, and check cashing. Provide information to members about their accounts, products, and services, and make referrals to other departments when necessary. Promote ERCU’s products and services based on members’ needs, including savings and loan products. Cash Handling & Transaction Accuracy Safeguard and handle cash, checks, and other negotiable instruments securely. Ensure that cash drawers are balanced and transactions are accurately recorded. Reconcile discrepancies in a timely manner and escalate unresolved issues to the supervisor. Compliance & Risk Management Follow all credit union policies and procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory and security requirements. Maintain confidentiality of member information at all times, adhering to privacy and data protection regulations. Complete necessary forms, logs, and reports to ensure accurate transaction documentation. Member Education & Support Help members understand and utilize ERCU’s digital banking tools and self-service options. Assist with any account issues or concerns, escalating matters to appropriate personnel when needed. Encourage member participation in ERCU’s community-driven programs and services. Team Collaboration & Branch Support Collaborate with other tellers and branch team members to ensure smooth daily operations. Support the branch in meeting its service, sales, and operational goals. Maintain a positive, cooperative attitude with colleagues to foster a team-oriented work environment. Qualifications High School diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s degree or some college coursework in finance, business, or a related field is a plus. Prior customer service or cash-handling experience is preferred, but not required. Strong attention to detail and ability to process financial transactions accurately. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with members. Ability to maintain confidentiality and uphold ERCU’s values of integrity and service. Basic math and computer skills; ability to learn new technology systems quickly. Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends or evenings, as needed.
