We operate 23 fixed plants, two mobile plants, and nearly 200 mixers across Alabama, providing top-quality concrete solutions. Our Kirkpatrick Division serves Northeast Alabama, while Hodgson Concrete serves the Montgomery region. Kirkpatrick Concrete is well-equipped to handle a wide range of ready-mix concrete needs. Role Description The Assistant Controller will play an integral role in the monthly close process, account reconciliations, adherence to accounting policies and procedures, and assist with financial reporting and technical accounting. Successful candidates will demonstrate superior time management skills, and a positive approach to working with team members.
What You’ll Do:
Work on general ledger monthly close processes and achieve monthly deadlines. Create/review documentation and support for journal entries. Liaison with external auditors and assist with coordinating financial statement audits. Complete monthly bank reconciliations. Identify and implement processes and system improvements with the goal of decreasing days to close, while also improving team efficiency. Review transactions for appropriate coding (e.g. GL accounts, departments, location, etc.) Increase internal control activities around the monthly close process.
What You Need:
Bachelor’s degree in accounting (preferred) 5+ years of relative accounting experience Superior working knowledge of Microsoft Excel. Experience with ERP systems (JD Edwards highly valued) Excellent written and oral communication, interpersonal and problem-solving skills Self-starter with a “can do” attitude and ability to multi-task while performing a variety of complex tasks.
