JOB SUMMARY
A financially strong and growing business in the transportation industry is looking for an Assistant Controller. The Assistant Controller will be responsible for managing the financial operations for the brokerage business unit, oversee the driver payable team for the asset-based business unit and be an important strategic partner for management. A focus and dedication to process improvement will also be required.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Lead the month-end close process of the Logistics business unit, including journal entries, account reconciliations, variance analysis and financial statement preparation. Responsible for the day-to-day management of accounting processes, analysis and financial reporting within the business unit Analyze financial data to identify trends, variances, and areas of opportunity Develops the annual budget in close collaboration with the business unit president Oversees and leads the duties performed by a Staff Accountant. Oversees and leads the duties performed by the Driver Payables team. Identifies continuous improvement opportunities and implements change. Prepare all required support for annual financial audit and other external reporting needs as they arise. Perform other duties as appropriate.
EXPERIENCE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS
A minimum of seven years of finance and accounting experience Accounting degree required Full-cycle accounting experience preferred Management/supervisory experience preferred Success working in a collaborative team environment. Must have excellent communication and analytical skills Public Audit work preferred CPA certification preferred Strong communication and organization skills Strong technical skills, especially MS Excel Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite Blackline and McLeod experience a plus
